I am an experienced biotech entrepreneur with deep technical expertise in synthetic biology.
I have a PhD in synthetic biology from Oxford, an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from Cambridge and an MA in Natural Sciences (Biological) from Cambridge.
I have experience in technical and BD roles at startups in the UK and US, including Microsoft Research and Gen9 Bio, a Harvard/MIT/Stanford spinout. I have worked at two of the UK's leading biotech VCs on projects including cell and gene therapy, next-gen DNA sequencing and synthesis, and AI-driven drug discovery.
I am a guest lecturer in biology at the New College of the Humanities and have been invited to present at high-profile scientific events worldwide. I have mentored biotech startups in London and Oxford, chaired debates and conferences, contributed to popular science blogs and been interviewed about syn bio on BBC Radio. In 2020 I was elected a member of the Royal Society of Biology and the Genetics Society.
